Defendant in Lynchburg murder and police standoff incident appears in court

LYNCHBURG, Va. – A Lynchburg man will spend some more time behind bars.

In March, Keri Sharpe was arrested and charged with second-degree murder as well as possession and use of a handgun in relation to the death of Jared Davis, 47.

On Tuesday morning, Sharpe appeared for a planned preliminary hearing.

The prosecution said that the 33-year-old fired eight shots at Davis after an incident near 16th Street, which was followed by a six-hour standoff with police at the community access network facility.

When a key witness didn’t show up to court for the second time, a warrant was put out for his arrest.

Sharpe’s attorneys asked for $15,000 bail, and the judge said that he would rule on the matter on Tuesday, September 20.
