Volunteers required for local project before start of school year
Roanoke, Virginia – The organizers of a local project which will help students get ready for the new school year are asking for the help of community.
Thousands of shoes will be donated to children in Roanoke City Public Schools by the Back-to-School Shoes Project and Fleet Feet Sports. In order to do that, they’ll need volunteers this weekend to assist fit children with shoes and socks at Patrick Henry High School’s Back-to-School Extravaganza. Volunteers are needed on August 21 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to organizers.
“What we’re going to need volunteers for is one, fitting shoes. Helping kids get the shoes on and making sure that they’re the right fit,” co-owner of Fleet Feet, Robin Lewis said.
Anyone interested in volunteering, but for some particular reason won’t be able to this Saturday, will have plenty of other opportunities to do so in the following weeks. Click here to find out how to volunteer.
