Virginia Tech locker room at S.B. Ballard Stadium robbed
NORFOLK, Va. — After Virginia Tech discovered that items had been stolen from their locker room after their game against Old Dominion on Friday night, the police were called in to investigate.
In a statement issued on Sunday afternoon, the school said, “The Virginia Tech athletic department confirmed there were items missing from the Virginia Tech locker room following the football game against Old Dominion in Norfolk Friday night. The university is working with law enforcement and Old Dominion University on the matter, and will have no further comment.”
Since last Friday, the Hokies haven’t had much luck on their side. At the half, ODU was up 10-7, and in the meantime, the Virginia Tech coaches were stranded in a broken elevator in the stadium, which caused a lengthy stoppage in the action. In the end, the Monarchs took the victory, 20–17, and showed why the Commonwealth belongs to them.
This afternoon, Old Dominion also issued a statement in response to the robbery that took place.
“ODU Athletics has been working with Virginia Tech and the Old Dominion Police Department since we became aware of the theft of personal property of a few Virginia Tech student-athletes on Friday night. ODU athletics sincerely apologizes to Virginia Tech, the Virginia Tech athletic administration and the young men who had items stolen. The ODU Police Department is working diligently to resolve this incident,” said the school.
