Virginia sees 3,291 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 534,116 statewide

As of February 9, Virginia is reporting 534,116 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March 2020.

As of Tuesday, a total of 1,130,763 vaccines have been administered across Virginia, with 217,605 people being fully vaccinated, according to VDH.

Here’s a breakdown of the 3,291 new coronavirus cases in Virginia:

  • 248 new cases in Prince William County
  • 224 new cases in Fairfax County and Virginia Beach
  • 222 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 159 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 133 new cases in Henrico County
  • 120 new cases in Chesapeake
  • 85 new cases in Richmond and Roanoke
  • 84 new cases in Portsmouth
  • 75 new cases in Suffolk
  • 74 new cases in Newport News
  • 71 new cases in Hampton
  • 69 new cases in Stafford County
  • 64 new cases in Spotsylvania County and Frederick County
  • 60 new cases in Montgomery County
  • 59 new cases in Norfolk
  • 48 new cases in Hanover County
  • 44 new cases in Arlington County

  • 3 new cases in Nelson County, Westmoreland County, Mathews County, Grayson County, Lee County, Emporia, Fluvanna County, Lunenburg County, Northumberland County, Northampton County, Floyd County and Cumberland County
  • 2 new cases in Amelia County, Falls Church, Galax, Scott County, Madison County, Lancaster County, Radford, Sussex County, Fairfax City and Highland County
  • 1 new case in Bristol, Dickenson County, Bland County and Surry County
  • Richmond County, Carroll County, Buena Vista, Charles City County and Norton decreased by one case
  • Alleghany County decreased by 14 cases
  • Roanoke County decreased by 22 cases

As of Tuesday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 6,847,477 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1.
