Virginia sees 2,959 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 513,339 statewide

As of February 3, Virginia is reporting 513,339 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March 2020.

As of Wednesday, a total of 890,005 vaccines have been administered across Virginia, with 136,731 people being fully vaccinated, according to VDH.

Wednesday’s total of 513,339 cases marks an increase from Tuesday’s total of 510,380 cases.

Here’s a breakdown of the 2,959 new coronavirus cases in Virginia:

  • 305 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 173 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 170 new cases in Virginia Beach
  • 133 new cases in Chesapeake
  • 130 new cases in Prince William County
  • 114 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 102 new cases in Henrico County
  • 97 new cases in Norfolk
  • 90 new cases in Richmond
  • 68 new cases in Hampton
  • 66 new cases in Frederick County

  • 1 new case in Amelia County, Surry County, Poquoson, Northumberland County, Cumberland County, Bland County, Bath County and Salem
  • Norton decreased by one case

As of Wednesday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 6,599,846 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1.
