A man from Troutville who was arrested and charged with assaulting a postal carrier in Botetourt County last week was granted bond on Friday.
Jerry Lee Orange Jr., age 45, has been charged with one count of felony abduction as well as five counts of misdemeanors, including one count of stalking, two counts of sexual battery, and two counts of assault and battery.
After the hearing that took place in Botetourt General District Court about Mr. Orange’s case, Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Gillian Deegan said that he was granted $10,000 secured bond.
That implies that he will have to pay the necessary amount in full regardless of whether he breaks or obeys his bond conditions.
According to Deegan, there is no connection between Orange and the postal carrier who was assaulted by Orange. Before the day of the incident, which was August 2nd, the woman had never ever seen Orange.
The conditions of Orange’s bond indicate that he is not allowed to have any contact with the woman. A two-year term was added to the protective order that was issued against him.
In addition, Orange has been put under the supervision of a pre-trial monitor and will be required to submit to drug testing three times a week. The next hearing for him is on the 21st of September.
