Three people, including two police officers, taken to hospital after crash in Roanoke
Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke Police have charged a driver for the crash involving two city police officers.
Anthony Jerome Buckner, 51, has been charged with driving under the influence.
Both officers involved have been released from Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital after receiving medical treatment.
The Story
A multi-vehicle crash in Roanoke on Friday night sent three people to the hospital, including two police officers.
Police were investigating a crash just before 7:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of Melrose Avenue NW. One officer was sitting inside a police car and a second officer was standing next to the car, when a vehicle headed east on Melrose Avenue crashed into a parked, unoccupied police car, according to the Roanoke City Police Department.
The force of the crash caused the parked police car to crash into the occupied police car nearby, according to police.
Roanoke Fire-EMS transported the man who was driving the SUV and the two police officers to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, according to police.
Police did not share details about the extent of their injuries.
The incident is still under investigation. No charges have been filed, according to police.
