Theatre performances in Roanoke cancelled due to Covid-19, ticket holders given few options
Roanoke, Virginia Although health experts and officials have said on numerous occasions that we won’t see another COVID-19 wave this winter, at least not like the ones last year and the year before, the number of COVID-19 cases both in Virginia and across the country is steadily increasing in recent weeks. The surge of new cases is expected to continue in the upcoming weeks and to peak after Christmas, when families gather together to celebrate the holidays.
The spread of the virus, combined with the flu and RSV, is causing disruptions again this year.
The Mill Mountain Theatre (MMT) was forced to cancel all three “Irving Berlin Holiday Inn” performances this week due to the COVID-19 outbreak after several cast and production members got infected with the virus. According to MMT, all performances through December 18 are officially canceled, citing the safety of the cast and audience.
Ticket holders are given several options to choose from, including changing tickets for any of the upcoming “Irving Berlin Holiday Inn” performances, getting a refund, donating the tickets to Mill Mountain Theatre as a tax-deductible donation, or transferring the tickets to any MainStage show in 2023.
