Summer camp hosted by Mill Mountain Zoo

Roanoke, Virginia – A group of kids is using their passion for animals to learn more about how to maintain zoo animals happy and healthy.
This year, Mill Mountain Zoo’s zookeeper camp has returned.
The campers have been working on crafts such as papier-mâché balls, which will be used as enrichment toys for the animals.
Campers are enthusiastic in helping the animals they encounter at the zoo.

“It’s really fun to know that you’re helping them to have fun and we also made little habitats for them. And my habitat was a bear, the bear habitat,” said 9-year-old Mazi Elmore.

Throughout the summer, there are number of other zookeeper camps with limited capacity.
