Shooting incident in Roanoke left a juvenile dead over the weekend
ROANOKE, Va. – An investigation into a gunshot that took place on Saturday evening revealed that the death of a young male victim was accidental and self-inflicted, according to the evidence gathered so far.
According to the Roanoke Police Department, officers arrived in the 1500 block of Shamrock Street NW at around 11:40 p.m. after receiving a call about a person who had been shot there. They found the youngster outside the house with what seemed to be life-threatening injuries. The child was unresponsive.
An officer provided treatment to the victim until Roanoke Fire-EMS arrived and transported him to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he passed away a short time later.
The Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released its findings on the death’s cause.
