Sentencing for leader of Roanoke street gang postponed

The sentencing for the leader of a Roanoke street gang has been postponed two weeks.

Sean “Denk” Guerrant was scheduled for a hearing Wednesday on federal racketeering charges related to the Rollin’ 30s Crips, which prosecutors say was responsible for drug dealing, shootings and the murders of two young men.

In an order Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Michael Urbanski wrote that after reading a presentence investigation report and sentencing memorandums, he was delaying the case until after three codefendants are sentenced.

Guerrant, 31, is now scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 16.

Both prosecutors and defense attorneys have urged Urbanski to accept a plea agreement, reached last year, that would set Guerrant’s sentence at 37 years in prison.
