Roanoke’s City Public Schools program provided almost 3 million meals
Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke Parks and Recreation started its summer food service program. The program provides meals on a first come, first serve basis to kids up to 18-years-old.
According to Roanoke City Public Schools almost 3 million meals have been provided to children since the beginning of the pandemic.
“This summer, we’re working together with Feeding America, Roanoke City Parks and Recreation, and ourselves to make sure there are plenty of opportunities for children in our community to have access to food,” Director of Food Service for Roanoke City Public Schools, Ellen Craddock said.
Meals will be available for pickup from noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday until Aug. 13 at the following sites:
- Indian Rock Village (2034 Indian Village Lane)
- Jamestown Place (1533 Pike Lane)
- Bluestone Park (22617 Bluestone Avenue)
- Hunt Manor (802 Hunt Avenue NW)
At the following locations breakfast and lunch will be provided from 11 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday — with Friday’s pickup including breakfast and lunch for Saturday and Sunday:
- Fallon Park
- Round Hill
- Patrick Henry
- William Fleming
Free curbside meal service for children up to 18-years-old will be offered from Roanoke Public Libraries at the following locations:
- Monday through Friday from 2 to 3 p.m.:
- Main Library (706 S. Jefferson Street)
- Melrose Branch Library (2502 Melrose Avenue NW, Suite D)
- Williamson Road Branch Library (3837 Williamson Road)
- Monday through Friday from 4 to 5 p.m.:
- Belmont Branch Library (1101 Morningside Street SE)
- Gainsboro Branch Library (15 Patton Avenue NW)
- Raleigh Court Branch Library (2112 Grandin Road SW)
