Roanoke City Public Schools will hold a job fair to connect businesses with students
Roanoke, Virginia – On May 23, Roanoke City Public Schools will hold a job fair to help local businesses connect with RCPS students who are looking for jobs during the summer and beyond.
Roanoke City Public Schools students and their families are welcome to apply for employment opportunities through the RCPS Works program. The school system has informed the children that employers would be conducting on-site interviews, and they have requested that the students dress properly and bring their identification with them. There will be a boxed dinner option, and students who attend will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win gift cards and other prizes.
“We know our students want to work and earn a little extra income, and we know many of our local employers need employees. RCPS Works will connect our students and employers so students can find productive, meaningful employment and employers can hire hard-working employees, which will benefit everyone across the Roanoke Valley,” Superintendent Verletta White said.
There are around 50 different businesses that are planning to attend. According to RCPS, the industries that are represented include construction, HVAC, food service, banking, the government, education, and a number of others. Employers that are interested in taking part need to register by this coming Friday, May 20.
Students and employers may visit this website to register and get further information, including a complete list of the businesses that are taking part in this event.
The job fair will be hosted at the Berglund Center in Berglund Hall on Monday, May 23, from 4 to 7 o’clock in the evening.
