Roanoke annual teacher hiring event took place Saturday
Roanoke, Virginia – The annual teacher hiring event for the Roanoke City Public Schools took place on Saturday.
The school district conducted interviews with around 50 individuals for positions at all grade levels and for all subjects. Foreign language, match teachers, and special education teachers are some of the jobs that the district has said are hard to fill.
There are jobs that need to be filled immediately, and others that will be filled in the next school year. According to the district, finding teachers who are qualified and skilled is the key to how well students do.
“It’s very important because we want the highest quality teachers in terms of what they bring to the table. We want them highly qualified, make sure they know their content. If they don’t, then we have professional development that can offer what they lack,” explains Dominick Mckee, Chief Human Resources Officer.
Candidates for the available jobs may apply at any time, according to the district. A link to a list of open positions as well as information on how to apply may be found here.
