Pulaski Police Department members have new looks to raise awareness of domestic violence issue

PULASKI, Va. – The Pulaski Police Department has a new look, with members wearing colorful hairstyles for a good cause.

Members of the police force are dying parts of their hair purple to bring attention to the issue of domestic abuse during the month of October.

According to the department, the rate of domestic violence in Pulaski is much higher than the average rate throughout the country.

“In our community we deal with domestic violence almost daily and we want to show our victims that we stand by them,” Pulaski Police Department’s Community Relations Specialist Sonia Ramsey said.

The local police department believes it is essential for the public to be aware that they may call or text 911 for help.

This can be beneficial for some cases of domestic violence.
