Christmas Store in Montgomery County ready to fulfill children’s wishes

Montgomery County, Va. – The most wonderful time of the year is upon us—the time to spread joy, reunite with family members, and teach our little ones valuable attributes such as kindness, forgiveness, and understanding. But besides all the meaning Christmas has for adults, the only thing children care about during Christmas is what kinds and how many gifts they will receive.

But as there are some families that cannot afford to provide their children with gifts, a non-profit organization in Montgomery County is trying its best to assure no one is left behind and fulfill children’s wishes.

The Montgomery County Christmas Store is a non-profit organization that assists eligible low-income individuals and families in Montgomery County during the Christmas season by providing a shopping experience characterized by choice and dignity. Since 1982, the Christmas Store has served local families, providing clothing, food, toys, shoes, household supplies, and more, and has once again opened for shoppers today.

The Montgomery County Christmas Store has expressed its gratitude to the community for all of the support it has offered throughout the years and said that 1,200 households have filled out the shopper application so far this year.

“If I could take you around and show you a shopper as you hand them new items from the newborn section, they just start crying. They didn’t expect to have anything new for their child,” said Terri Lynn Howard of the Montgomery County Christmas Store.
