One person injured in a shooting in Roanoke

At about mid-morning at an undisclosed location, a man was shot, according to Roanoke police.

This is the 35th shooting in the city since January 1, in which at least one person was injured but not killed.

Police said in a news statement that they were made aware of a person with a gunshot wound in the 1600 block of Grayson Avenue Northwest at around 9:30 a.m.

Officers discovered an adult man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Roanoke Fire-EMS personnel transported him to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.

According to an early police inquiry, the gunfire that injured the victim did not occur at the Grayson Avenue location. “At this time, no suspects have been discovered and no arrests have been made. This inquiry is underway.”
