HAMPTON, Va. — A man was injured in a shooting incident in Hampton on Sunday evening.
The Hampton Police Department says that at 3:53 in the afternoon, someone called 911 to say that someone had been shot near Coliseum Drive and Von Schilling Drive.
When the police arrived, they discovered a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Police said that the victim was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance for treatment, and doctors are optimistic that he will get better.
Investigators said the victim was in the 100 block of Aero Circle, close to the Aero Apartments, when he was shot.
According to the police reports, the wounded man drove away from the scene, and when he arrived at the crossroads of Coliseum Drive and Von Schilling Drive, he got out of his vehicle and sought help from a citizen who was nearby.
The police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the identity of the shooter or shooters in this incident.
