Musk officially implements Twitter Blue verification for $8 a month
On Saturday, Elon Musk’s Twitter finally revealed that, for $7.99 a month, users may get the blue checkmark.
“Get Twitter Blue if you sign up now,” the announcement said. “Blue checkmark: Power to the people. Your account will get a blue checkmark, just like the celebrities, companies and politicians you follow.”
“Coming soon… Half the ads & much better ones,” the statement added. “Since you’re supporting Twitter in the battle against the bots, we’re going to reward you with half the ads and make them twice as relevant.”
Twitter also claimed that users would be allowed to submit longer videos and that there would be a “priority ranking for quality content.” Neither of these features has been implemented yet.
The company says that Twitter Blue with verification is now available on iOS in the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
The change comes at a time when the social media platform is cutting a lot of positions.
