Mesquite celebrates October with family-friendly events

The Mesquite Parks and Recreation Department has organized two family-friendly events for October to enhance community engagement, as per Dallas Metro News.

On Saturday, October 7, the department concludes its Movies in the Park series with a screening of “The Addams Family 2” at dusk. Pre-show activities begin at 7 p.m. and feature face painting, basketball, and volleyball. There will also be snack concessions. This free event takes place at Rorie-Galloway Day Camp, located at 3100 Lawson Road. Attendees should bring their own seating. Food will be available for purchase from Fera’s Grill food truck.

On Saturday, October 21, Paschall Park, at 1001 New Market Road, hosts the annual PumpkinFest from noon to 5 p.m. This year introduces a hay maze and hay ride to the event. The festival also includes costume contests for children and adults, a dog costume contest, and a pumpkin-pie eating contest. Other activities include a pumpkin patch, carnival games, inflatable bounce houses, face painting, and performances on the community stage. An arts and crafts section will be available, along with a trick-or-treating area. Several food trucks will sell seasonal foods.

Both events highlight the City of Mesquite’s dedication to strengthening community bonds with diverse recreational and cultural activities for all ages.
