Man arrested after a three-hour standoff in Vinton

VINTON, Va. – Vinton Police tried to serve an Emergency Custody Order to a house in the 700 block of Ramada Road on Tuesday night. This led to a three-hour standoff.

At around 6:15 p.m., when officers arrived, the individual was barricaded inside a locked bedroom. The individual made statements that created a risky environment for authorities attempting to enter.

Roanoke County S.W.A.T. and a negotiator team were requested for assistance.

At around 9:30 p.m., the guy surrendered and was brought into custody without incident in accordance with the Emergency Custody Order. He was sent to Lewis Gale Hospital for assessment.

There were no injuries suffered during the incident.
