According to the most recent statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the majority of the state of Virginia maintains its position as having low COVID Community Levels. However, the Commonwealth has 18 localities that are ranked as medium and three localities that are ranked as high.
According to the most recent data from the Virginia Department of Health, the state’s seven-day positive rate has fallen to 7.7%, the number of new cases has decreased by 5% over the last week, and 73.1% of the state’s population is fully vaccinated. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported in its most recent weekly update that the seven-day moving average for COVID cases in the United States saw a 4.7% increase as of November 2 and that 85% of the country’s total population (people 5 and older) had received at least one vaccine dose.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that residents in Dickenson, Norton, and Smyth in Virginia wear masks indoors because these localities now rank as having high COVID Community Levels.
There are eighteen localities that are ranked as having a medium COVID Community Levels. These localities include Augusta, Bland, Bristol, Buena Vista, Galax, Henry, Highland, Lee, Lexington, Martinsville, Pulaski, Rockbridge, Russell, Scott, Staunton, Washington, and Waynesboro.
The remaining 112 localities in the Commonwealth are ranked as having a low COVID Community Levels.
