Lynchburg back-to-school event to provide free school supplies, shoes, haircuts

LYNCHBURG, Va. – On Saturday, there will be a special back-to-school event to help families get the supplies they need.

One Community, One Voice is sponsoring the free event at the University of Lynchburg from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Along with fun activities and prizes, they’ll be handing out more than 1,500 backpacks, school supplies, and shoes.

Ted & Ted’s Barber Shoppe will also be there to give kids free haircuts.

“It’s not about us, it’s about the less fortunate, and we like to pour back into our young kids in the community because some parents can’t afford to get their haircuts and stuff, then buy school supplies and stuff,” said Ted Jennings Sr, co-owner of Ted & Ted’s Barber Shoppe.

NBA Hall of Famer Dominque Wilkins will also be on-hold to host a basketball clinic.
