J&J vaccines scarce in Virginia

It could be a while before Virginia gets more doses of the newly-approved Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
So far, the Virginia Dept. of Health has only received one shipment of the single-dose vaccine– about 70,000 doses arrived last week.
However, there will not be any new shipments either this week or next due to the demand.
Health officials say that is hampering their efforts to ramp up vaccinations across the Commonwealth.
“As we look ahead into the end of March and into April, we really expect that our overall vaccine allocation is going to increase somewhere around 20%,” Dr. Danny Avula says.
As long as more vaccines become available, Dr. Avula says, Virginia should be on track to reach 75% heard immunity as early as the end of May.
So far about 18% of Virginians have been vaccinated.
