Investigation launched into Virginia man’s death who might have died from injuries sustained in his arrest

Front Royal, Virginia – An investigation was launched after a 77-year-old man from Virginia died as a result of trauma to his head sustained while being arrested by sheriff’s deputies.
Virginia State Police are trying to figure out whether deputies from Warren County handled the arrest of Ralph Ennis appropriately and whether or not the injuries he sustained during the confrontation with law enforcement were the main cause of his death.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office also said it has reached out to the Commonwealth Attorney’s office and sought the appointment of a special prosecutor to assist with the investigation by the state police.
In addition, Maj. Jeffrey Driskill said in a press release issued on Monday that the sheriff’s office would form a board of investigation to look into the use of force in connection with Ennis’ arrest.
