Home on Brookridge Road in Roanoke County was on fire, victim found with life-threatening injuries, investigation

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. — An investigation is underway after a victim was found with life-threatening injuries in a Roanoke County front yard, and the home was on fire, according to police.

Police were called to the 4000 block of Brookridge Road at about 1:43 p.m. Saturday, where the victim was seen in the front yard and flames were coming from the house, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital, and the fire was extinguished. Police did not detail the specific injuries.

Roanoke County police relayed information to law enforcement in surrounding areas about the suspect and the suspect car, the police department said, and about 45 minutes after the initial 911 call, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect vehicle was involved in a crash in the Boones Mill area of Franklin County.

“The suspect fled on foot from the crash and was taken into custody by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police,” Roanoke County police said.

Caleb Firebaugh, 25, of Roanoke County, was charged with aggravated malicious wounding, and he’s being held without bond at the Roanoke County/Salem Jail.

Detectives with the Roanoke County Police Department and investigators with the Roanoke County Fire Marshal’s Office continue to investigate this incident.
