Head of U.S. Customs and Border Protection is being forced out of his position

The head of United States Customs and Border Protection is being forced out of his position as a result of the number of illegal crossings reaching the highest level ever recorded in a fiscal year.

As per reports, Chris Magnus, who has been on the Senta-confirmed post for less than a year, was ordered to quit or be fired. It is part of a bigger change that is expected to happen at the Department of Homeland Security because border agents are having a hard time keeping up with the number of migrants, including the growing number of people coming from places like Venezuela.

According to recently released statistics, border patrol officers caught a total of 2.38 million migrants for the fiscal year that concluded on September 30. This is a 37% increase from the previous year. For the first time ever, the annual total topped 2 million in August, and it is more than twice as high as the maximum level reached under the administration of Donald Trump in 2019.

It was confirmed by Brandon Judd, who is the president of the National Border Patrol Council, that Magnus was being pushed out.
