FTC issued a warning about a potential scam scheme

Despite the fact that funding for free COVID-19 testing has run out, the federal government said that there is still a way to get kits at no cost.

The Federal Trade Commission said that insurance companies reimburse for COVID-19 testing performed at home. According to the FTC, consumers with employment, Medicare, or marketplace policies under the Affordable Care Act are entitled to up to eight free tests each month.

The FTC said, “There are two methods to acquire your test for free.” “Utilize a pharmacy or retailer that your health plan identifies as ‘in network,’ where you will be charged $0 or reimbursed by making a claim to your insurance plan. Check with your health insurance provider to locate a pharmacy in their network or to determine what receipts or other documents you’ll need.”

According to the FTC, fraudsters target Medicare users with “false offers” for free coronavirus testing.

According to the FTC, these con artists are seeking to obtain personal information in order to perpetrate fraud and bill insurance providers for fictitious costs. The Federal Trade Commission recommends getting tests from reputable companies and not giving personal information to people who call you out of the blue.
