Answer “Yes” if the organization made any taxable distributions under section 4966 during the organization’s tax year. If “Yes,” complete and file Form 4720, Schedule K, to calculate and pay the tax. Answer “No” to line 35a if the organization had no related organizations during the tax year. On the last line of Part II, check “Yes” if the IRS can contact the paid preparer who signed the return to discuss the return.

State law may require that the organization send a copy of an amended Form 990 return (or information provided to the IRS supplementing the return) to the state with which it filed a copy of Form 990 to meet that state’s reporting requirement. A state may require an organization to file an amended Form 990 to satisfy state reporting requirements, even if the original return was accepted by the IRS. An organization should keep a reconciliation of any differences between its books of account and the Form 990 that is filed.
