Florida officials issued a warning to parents nationwide about fake candy that contains drugs
MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Florida officials are sounding the alarm to parents throughout the country about fake candy that contains drugs.
It is not too early to be on the lookout for these fraudulent items, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Halloween is quickly approaching.
The sheriff’s office released images of fentanyl pressed in several colors, giving it a candy-like look, as samples to be aware of.
“Not only does this make it easier for kids to hide drugs from their parents, but it also makes it more likely for unknowing kids (or even adults) to consume the drugs believing it is candy,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a Facebook post.
Officials advise calling 911 immediately if you suspect your child has consumed anything they shouldn’t have.
