Donald Trump announced his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election
Donald Trump, the previous U.S. president, announced his candidacy for president in the 2024 election.
The former president announced his candidacy approximately twenty minutes into his speech at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida on Tuesday night.
“America’s comeback starts right now. In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States,” Trump said.
As he was wrapping up his speech, Trump said, “We make America great again.”
In the event that Biden and Trump face off in the 2024 presidential election, and if Trump wins, he would become just the second president since Grover Cleveland in 1892 to retake the post in two non-consecutive terms by defeating the opponent to whom he had previously lost.
The announcement comes while Trump faces a series of intensifying criminal investigations, including a Department of Justice probe into the hundreds of documents with classified markings that were discovered in boxes and drawers at Mar-a-Lago.
