Danville Community College is hosting huge food distribution event this weekend
Danville, Virginia – Dozens of donation events took place in recent weeks in the Roanoke area, and several more are about to be held in the upcoming days until Christmas. The local community, local businesses, and even the Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office make extra efforts to support those in need, especially children, by providing free clothes, food, toys, and other items. The reason is simple: it’s the holiday season, and everyone deserves to feel the holiday magic.
Up to 25 small local companies in Virginia might also get help this holiday season after the Virginia-based non-profit, 30 Day Fund, announced that it will give away $3,500 to help local business owners buy new equipment or give bonuses to their employees for Christmas. Those owning companies with 3–30 employees are encouraged to apply here.
However, one of the biggest giveaway events this holiday season is going to take place on Saturday in Danville and is hosted by the Danville Community College in collaboration with the Danville City Council and Tyson Foods. According to the organizers, the food distribution event is set to take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Danville Community College in the Temple Building Parking Lot on Bonner Avenue.
More than 40,000 pounds of frozen chicken are expected to be distributed during the three-hour event, which will help local residents in need just before Christmas. The food distribution event is sponsored by Tyson Foods, while volunteers from the Tyson Foods Danville facility, Danville Community College, and Danville City Council will make sure that everything goes as planned.
“Tyson Foods is proud to support families in Danville through protein donations that will provide nutritious, quality food to the broader community this holiday season,” the company said in a press release.
