Authorities seized evidence in the case of a missing Georgia toddler
CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. – The Chatham County Police Department has made public their acquisition of evidence in the investigation into the disappearance of the toddler, Quinton Simon.
Even though they are currently looking for any clues, the Chatham County Police Department has not yet commented on what they believe may have happened to Quinton.
On Tuesday, the police said that they are now conducting an investigation into the evidence to “see where it takes us” and that they think the evidence “will assist in moving this case ahead.”
According to Police Chief Jeff Hadley, personnel investigating the case have been working in shifts that are 18-hour long to look for Quinton.
During the weekly news conference that he holds, Savannah Mayor Van Johnson again brought up the subject of Quinton’s disappearance.
“This is tragic, certainly is sad,” Johnson said. “And any way that we can provide assistance to Chatham County and the Chatham County Police department as they conduct the search we will help. We’re close enough to help. We have advanced resources and some of the best professional available so as asked or requested we will provide those services.”
The Chatham County Police Department hasn’t named any suspects in the case of the missing child, nor have they said anything about what crimes might have been done.
A toddler named Quinton, who is just 20 months old, has been missing for the last week. According to the authorities, he was last seen on October 5 at around 6:00 a.m., and he was reported missing almost three hours later.
Even though the Chatham County Police Department and other agencies, like the FBI, have been helping with the investigation, the public hasn’t been given many updates on how the case is going.
Hadley said that the restricted distribution of material was done on purpose so that investigators might preserve any evidence they obtain in the event that the investigation turns out to be illegal.
