‘Ashanti Alert’ issued for a Virginia Beach woman who went missing

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A search is now underway in Virginia Beach for a woman who has gone missing and who authorities believe may be in danger.

Marie Darshaun Covington, 40, has been the subject of a “critically missing adult alert,” also known as an “Ashanti Alert,” issued by the Virginia State Police.

The last time anybody saw Covington was on Wednesday, August 17, in the Virginia Beach neighborhood of Thalia Trace Drive, according to state police.

It’s possible that she was dressed in a gray sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and a black baseball cap.

Someone reported to the Virginia Beach Police Department that they spotted Covington driving a white 2016 Ford Escape with the license plate number ULW5452 in Virginia.

According to the findings of the early investigation, it seems as if Covington may be in danger.

Please contact 911 or the non-emergency number at (757) 385-5000 if you have seen her or know anything about her whereabouts.
