Around 450 people wanted: Caesars Virginia is hosting a career fair on campus at the Grant Center

Danville, Virginia – Virginia’s Danville is preparing to welcome a new attraction that will boost its economy and tourism: Caesars Virginia, a destination resort casino operated by Caesars Entertainment.

Caesars Virginia is one of four commercial casinos under construction in Virginia, following a voter referendum in 2020 that legalized casino gambling in selected cities. The project was approved by Danville City Council and by Danville voters in 2020.

Caesars Virginia will be built on an 85-acre site at the former Dan River Mills industrial complex near Schoolfield. The $500 million development will feature a 300-room hotel, a 35,000-square-foot casino with 1,000 slot machines and 50 table games, a sportsbook, a spa, a pool, several restaurants and bars, a live entertainment venue and meeting spaces.

Caesars Virginia broke ground in August 2022 with an anticipated opening date in 2024. However, before the permanent casino opens its doors, Caesars Virginia will operate a temporary casino at an existing building on the site starting from July 2023. The temporary casino will offer about half of the gaming options as the permanent one.

Caesars Virginia is expected to create more than 1,300 jobs and generate more than $30 million annually for Danville’s local government. It will also support local businesses and nonprofits through partnerships and donations. Caesars Virginia aims to become a regional destination that attracts visitors from across Virginia and neighboring states.

Around 450 individuals are being sought to operate a temporary casino opening this summer, with plans to transition those employees to the permanent casino when it opens in late 2024.

“We just think it’s a great place for us to be in terms of finding great talent that will help serve Caesars Virginia going forward,” said Chris Albrecht, General Manager for Caesars Virginia. “We’re here back at Averett, which is one of our big partners here in town. We’re excited to continue that relationship and find opportunities like this and find talent for Caesars Virginia.”

Finance, Table Games, Slot Operations, Surveillance, Security, IT and other positions are currently opened for those interested to apply. Organizers say that people of all categories are wanted since prior experience is not needed for any of the positions. The employee confirmed that all chosen candidates will undergo special trainings and educations for the specific positions. In addition, the company confirmed that students are also encouraged to apply for the jobs.

“We would love to see our favorite students here. We do have accounting positions, finance positions, marketing positions and a lot of opportunities for things they’ve been studying in school to come out and work towards,” explained Albrecht.

“The goal is to equip this region with talented and trained hospitality leaders as Caesars prepares to open and all the other businesses that should be growing in the area,” said Thomas Perugini, Averett Program Director for Hospitality Management & Tourism.

One job hiring event took place on Thursday, but there will be another hiring event on Friday. Those interested should visit the career fair from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
