LYNCHBURG, Va. – A promising postseason for both E.C. Glass and Heritage’s boys basketball teams has been cut short.
Heritage High athletic director Dennis Knight says his team is in quarantine, after being exposed by a person outside the program. However, to date, no Pioneer player has tested positive.
Nor has any E.C. Glass player tested positive. The Hilltoppers were forced to shut down prior to Thursday’s game at Brookville, learning of potential exposure through contact tracing.
Both teams had qualified for region playoffs, but due to the shortened time frame, with those games beginning Monday, neither team will be finished with their quarantine periods in time. Instead, Brookville will take Heritage’s spot in the Region playoffs. The Bees will play Charlottesville for a first-round game on Monday.
Meanwhile, Amherst County is the top seed in region 4D, getting a first round bye, and will host a game Wednesday night.
