Elmwood Park

City of Roanoke’s Elmwood Park is Southwest Virginia’s premier concert and festival venue. Renovations were completed in 2014 and the new Elmwood Park is a great addition to Downtown Roanoke!

Park hours are 11am – 11pm, 7 days a week

Elmwood Park features a 4,000+ capacity amphitheater with cascading grass terraces for seating, a state-of-the-art illuminated fountain in front of the stage, tree-lined walkway with decorative fountains, and an art walk with beautiful sculptures.

Fountains

The stage fountains are kid friendly (just bring a towel to dry your little ones off). Fountains are on during park hours (9am – 11pm) except on days when there are events in the Park. On event days, the fountains will not be turned on.

Peter Pan Playground

Completed in May 2015, the Peter Pan Playground is a joint venture between Roanoke Parks and Recreation, the Library and Carilion Clinic Children’s Hospital.
The playground is adjacent to the Downtown Roanoke Main Library located at 706 South Jefferson St and sits at the top of Elmwood Park. You can reach the playground by following the path to the right of the library off of Jefferson St.

I was born and raised in Roanoke, VA. I studied Communications Studies at Roanoke College, and I’ve been part of the news industry ever since. Visiting my favorite downtown Roanoke bars and restaurants with my friends is how I spend most of my free time when I'm not at the desk.
