Free entry offered at several Virginia museums on Sept. 17

As part of the 18th annual Museum Day effort that is being organized by Smithsonian Magazine, a number of museums and other relevant locations all around the state of Virginia and the United States will provide free entry on September 17th, 2022. This yearly day is celebrated in all fifty states and includes participation from museums, zoos, historic sites, and cultural centers. The purpose of the event is to encourage people to take advantage of the excellent learning opportunities that are available at these institutions.

Patrick Henry’s home at Red Hill at Brookneal, the Virginia Discovery Museum in Charlottesville, the Virginia Quilt Museum in Harrisonburg, and the Salem Museum are just some of the participating sites in western Virginia. The majority of the sites in the Old Dominion are located in the eastern part of the state (which is free every day of the year anyway.)

The list of participating venues in Virginia is here.

Registration through Smithsonian Magazine is required. For more information or to register, visit Smithsonianmag.com/museumday. Each ticket grants the ticket holder and one guest free access to any participating museum on September 17, 2022 only. One registration is permitted per email address.

As a college student, making an extra buck now and then was very important. I started as a part-time reporter since I was 19 yo, and I couldn’t believe it might become a long-time career. I'm happy to be part of the Virginian Tribune's team.
