Fatal single-vehicle crash in Pittsylvania County still under investigation

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – The Virginia State Police are looking into an accident that involved a single car and resulted in a fatality. The collision took place on Saturday evening at around 7:46 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, on Route 29, about two-tenths of a mile south of Route 863.

On Route 29, a 2001 Ford Explorer was heading northbound when it went off the left side of the road, flipped over in the median, and came to a rest in the lanes that were designated for southbound traffic.

Samuel C. Pickral, 26, from Hurt, Virginia, was driving at the time of the collision; he was not wearing his seatbelt and, as a result, had injuries that required medical attention. Arriana Wyatt, 24 years old and from Hurt, Virginia, was not wearing her seatbelt when she got in the vehicle and therefore passed away at the scene.

The investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
