Two children critically injured, 6-year-old dead in Pittsylvania County crash

DANVILLE, Va. — According to authorities, a collision early Saturday morning in Pittsylvania County resulted in the death of a six-year-old boy and serious injuries to two other children.

According to a statement made by Sgt. Richard Garletts, a spokesperson for the Virginia State Police, the incident took place on Mount Cross Road near Log Haven Road at around 3:40 in the morning.

Czachary Paul Roe, 37, of Callands, was traveling west on Mount Cross Road in a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo with his three children when the accident occurred. According to the authorities, the car left the right side of the road, drove into a ditch, and then flipped over.

Roe sustained injuries and was sent to a local hospital.

According to what Garletts said in the announcement, 6-year-old Kias Jordan Salas was “unrestrained and ejected from the vehicle.”

Salas was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A child who was three years old was restrained in a child safety seat, whereas a child who was ten years old was not wearing a seatbelt. Both children were hurt, and one of them was sent to a hospital for treatment of injuries that were considered life-threatening.

According to what Garlett said in the statement, the investigation into the collision is still ongoing, and charges may still be brought.
