Convicted killer gets 45-year prison term in Crystal City workplace shooting

Mumeet Muhammad, a previously convicted killer, was given a sentence on Wednesday that requires him to spend 45 years in prison for the 2019 shooting and wounding of his ex-girlfriend at her workplace in Arlington.

On the 28th of August 2019, Muhammad shot the woman after forcing his way into the woman’s office in Crystal City. Muhammad was also shot by law enforcement.

A jury in the Arlington County Circuit Court found Muhammad guilty on all four charges in less than two hours in April of this year. The charges included aggravated malicious wounding; use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, second offense; and two counts of simple abduction.

The 50-year-old Muhammad received a sentence of 30 years in prison on the malicious wounding charge, five years on the firearm charge, and five years for each of the abduction counts. These sentences are to be served consecutively, and then Muhammad will be placed on five years of supervised probation.

Muhammad, formerly known as Tonie Macklin, was convicted of murder in 1992 and sentenced to 37 years in jail for the death of a man in Arlington.

He was released on mandatory parole in 2017, according to the state parole board.
