Man charged with voluntary manslaughter after victim in Virginia Beach bar fight dies

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A brawl that broke out at a restaurant and bar in Virginia Beach earlier this month resulted in one person’s death.

The incident took place on August 11 in the 3200 block of Shore Drive. According to the VBPD, a physical confrontation occurred there between two individuals.

During the altercation, one of the parties, a man aged 26, is said to have suffered a head injury and was later transported to a hospital for treatment. On August 25, police said that the man had passed away as a result of his injuries.

Wesley Horbal, age 26, was taken into custody by the Virginia Beach police department on Monday, and he was charged with voluntary manslaughter.

Horbal has confessed to fighting, hitting, and kicking the victim while the man was on the ground, according to court records.

According to the law enforcement officer, the record shows that the man suffered skull fractures and brain bleeding as a result of the fight.

According to O’Brien, his firm is conducting its own investigation into what actually occurred.

“We’re in the very infancy of our investigation, so we’re reaching out to a bunch of people, witnesses, employees things of that nature to try and determine what exactly happened that night,” O’Brien said.

Horbal is being held in jail at the moment. The bond hearing will take place this Thursday.
