Ongoing efforts to improve manufacturing sector in New River Valley

GALAX, Va. – Efforts to improve the manufacturing sector are ongoing.

Warner said that there is potential to expand production of semi-conductor chip technology as a result of new legislation.

“We used to make about 40 percent of all those chips in America. Now we make 12 percent. This investment will bring at least 10 of these factories, and they are factories that employ thousands of people, my goal is to make sure at least one of these factories ends up in Virginia, and my hope is in Southside or Southwest Virginia,” said Warner.

On Tuesday afternoon, Warner also visited Galax to present God’s Store House Soup Kitchen with a check for $500,000 in federal funding.
