Roanoke police investigating after a man suffering from gunshot injuries sought treatment at a hospital

Roanoke police reported on Sunday that an early morning gunfire at a parking garage on Salem Avenue sent one man to the hospital.

Around two in the morning on Sunday, officers on patrol along Campbell Avenue S.W. allegedly heard gunshots, as stated in a press release issued by the city police. They followed the sound to a parking garage in the 300 block of Salem Avenue South West, which is situated just across the street from the headquarters of the city police department, but they did not find any victims or suspects there.

The press release said that shortly after that, a man suffering from gunshot injuries had been admitted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Police said the man, whose identity has not been revealed, arrived at the hospital by his own vehicle.

Hospital officials said the man’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.

There have been no arrests made, and the police are asking anybody who may have information about the incident to contact them at (540) 344-8500.
