Williamsburg brewery closing after decade in business

WILLIAMSBURG — After over a decade, Brass Cannon Brewing is closing its doors.

The craft beer microbrewery and tap room, which celebrated 10 years in the business in March, was one of the first to make a home in the Williamsburg area. Now, they’re bowing out.

“We find ourselves now in an oversaturated market rushing to the bottom, and in an inflationary economy with the resultant rising interest rates,” the company said in a news release. “We are not willing to reduce quality, cut cost corners or raise prices.”

Operations began winding down Aug. 1, and will close no later than Oct. 1.

In the release, Brass Cannon’s management assured customers that the Cannon Tap Room, located on Mooretown Road, will continue to operate “quasi-normally” through August and then more sporadically in September.

During this time, Tap Room staff will be preparing their gear and equipment for sale. Anyone interested in any of the equipment, furnishings or accessories is asked to contact Phil Norfolk at [email protected].

“We can’t thank everyone enough for the ride!” the release continued. “We leave the craft beer business with a song in our hearts, having loved the experience.”
