Virginia – Hospitalizations are also trending upward. According to Sovah Health, coronavirus-related hospitalizations have reached an all-time high across Virginia.
In Danville, VDH is reporting a 7-day average of 1.3 new hospitalized patients each day.
That average is higher than Lynchburg and Roanoke whose 7-day average is 1 or below.
The Southside’s two largest hospitals say they are prepared for any spike in patients.
“That’s what hospitals do best, enduring crisis, they will receive care,” Alan Larson, Market President for Sovah Health Danville, said. “We will collaborate with others we will find a way to be able to make it work.”
The presidents of Sovah Health Danville and Martinsville say there are plenty of beds and equipment available for all patients needing medical care.
“We’re ready for it,” Dale Alward, the Market President for Sovah Health Martinsville, said. “People understand what we need to do to make that happen. We’ll do it once we need to, we’ll be ready to roll.”
Both Larson and Alward expect numbers to keep rising.
