Conditional pardon delivered to Virginia woman sentenced for murder
Lynchburg, Virginia – A 26-year-old Colonial Heights woman serving a 20-year sentence for second-degree murder has been given a conditional pardon by Virginia’s governor.
Margaret Dacey’s pardon papers were to be presented to her on Thursday at the Virginia Correctional Center for Women, according to Kelly Thomasson, Virginia’s secretary of the state.
Only Dacey, out of four teenage defendants in the case, was found guilty in Russell Mack’s killing in 2013. An inmate’s sentence is reduced under a conditional pardon, but the conviction remains on his or her record.
Mike, Mack’s father, feels Dacey should spend the remainder of her sentence.
