Multiple projects discussed at the Roanoke City Council meeting
Roanoke, Virginia – The Roanoke City Council met on Monday to address a number of ongoing projects in the city. A “request to rezone” a section of the Walmart parking lot at 4807 Valley View Blvd. was one of the project’s developments.
The City Council unanimously passed the ordinance, just as the Planning Commission did last week. A new Panda Express will be built between Chick-fil-A and Walmart’s gas pumps as part of the project.
Ray Flake, the project’s civil engineer, expressed gratitude to the council and city for their assistance in moving the project forward.
“Having it go through as it did, was fantastic.”
Flake admits that as the project progresses, they will need to handle traffic flow in the area.
“That’s all part of this process. Being able to go through and show them the traffic counts that we’re usually getting for Panda Express, start working on utilities, storm water, making sure we have enough green space and landscaping.”
The location is now all concrete, but Flake stated that the trees and vegetation around the building will be improved. According to Flake, they will most likely not have all of the permissions until after Christmas in 2021, but work will begin in the spring of 2022.
