4-year-old girl wounded in Lynchburg shooting

LYNCHBURG, Va. – On Tuesday night, a child was wounded in Lynchburg, according to the Lynchburg Police Department.

The incident, according to the police, took place at the Liberty gas station located at 3145 Campbell Ave.

Police said they arrived at the area near the store at 9:46 p.m. after several callers reported hearing gunshots. A surveillance camera caught four people shooting at a can in the parking lot of a gas station. The suspects escaped on foot, and the vehicle left the parking lot.

At 9:54 p.m., officers rushed to Lynchburg General Hospital after receiving reports of a four-year-old girl who had been shot. The police eventually confirmed that the child was a passenger in the vehicle during the store shooting. According to the police, her injuries are not life-threatening and she is expected to recover.
