26 organizations in Virginia that fight violence against women will get over $33 million
Roanoke, Virginia – The US Department of Justice has awarded more than $33 million in grants to 26 Virginia-based public and non-profit organizations to finance programs that prevent violence against women.
The grants will provide funding and essential services to vulnerable groups, including women, persons with disabilities, and immigrants who are victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, according to Acting US Attorney Raj Parekh.
State government agencies that offer services across the Commonwealth are among the grant recipients.
The funding will also help non-profit groups that provide technical training and support around the country.
